Baked Triple-Chocolate S’Mores
A Short History of S’mores
According to National Geographic Society, S’mores evolved from popular turn-of-the-century treats like “marshmallow marguerites” (marshmallows and butter baked on crackers). Early versions of s’mores were reported in camp settings as early as 1925.
The first printed recipe appeared in the 1927 Girl Scout handbook, Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts, under the name “Some Mores.” The recipe instructed campers to toast marshmallows over a fire, sandwich them with Hershey’s chocolate between two graham crackers, and noted that campers would always want “some more.”
